“We wanted the lads to be fully focussed on the task at hand and overall I am very happy with their commitment and dedication on the pitch. We stuck to our game-plan and I am equally content with the fact that we managed to keep a clean sheet in our opening fixture which was as important as the goals we have scored”.
– Sanju Gopalan, Head Coach FC Mangalore u-14s
Team cohesion is crucial in the run-up to a league tournament and the squad is a tight-knit unit, having spent the last few months training together at the club head quarters in Derelakatte.
“They have been training hard for the past few months and the announcement of the KSA Youth League came at the ideal time when the boys were raring to go. Having lost out on a lot of competitive football over the past 18 months due to Covid means that the lads are laser focussed to do well and we are going to take this on a match by match basis”, added Coach Sanju.
