The all-important winner arrived midway through the second half. All of the persistent pressure built up by the lads finally paid dividends when a Stadium FC defender inadvertently ended up deflecting the ball into his own net to give FC Mangalore the all important lead at 2-1 with just over twenty minutes to spare.

At full-time, the FC Mangalore lads were jubilant as they registered the three points and also bagged a famous victory against arguably the best team in the competition.

“I am really proud that the lads kept fighting despite being a goal down. Never once did they throw in the towel and it was refreshing to see that they were ready to sacrifice for the cause of the team and that is what matters eventually.”
